don't bother

"Don’t bother me.
I’ve just
been born."

"One and eight"

Yellowbird, yellowbird.
Awake after four hours of deep sleep.
I don't know how it happens,
but I am not quiet in mind after so long.

Ghosts in the forest
where I meditate;
the color & the shape.

the butterfly rose

"For years and years I struggled

just to love my life. And then

the butterfly rose, weightless, in the wind.

“Don’t love your life

too much,” it said,

and vanished

into the world."

A living deity who desires to communicate thus necessitates an intermediate realm between God and human, between the invisible and the visible, between the world of immaterial spirits and material bodies.  It is in this intermediate imaginal realm that Miriam has her meetings with Christ.  As with the ancient prophets, God activates the necessary visionary, imaginal forms in her, so as to bring her to the divine.

The only way to heal,

is to trust.

"I wonder how I would have ended up

if you hadn't walked into my life

As a child

"As a child she was described as having the eyes of a half-tamed creature, being drawn to the unnatural, with a penchant for improvising tempestuous fairy stories...

and then you survive

"There are all these moments you don’t think you will survive. And then you survive."

do you

"Do you ever miss yourself? The person you were before you had your first heartbreak or before you got betrayed by a person you trusted?"

Nothing's gonna hurt you, baby.

(Nothing's gonna
take you from yourself.)

the heart has its reasons,
which reason knows nothing of...
she would keep looking at me
and everytime she looked at me
it was worth something.
i held my wrist up to my ear;
the sound of blood flowing
with a steady cadence
like that of the tide,
filled my head.
the color of the sea is brave,
but not as brave as i have been.

"Stop insisting on clearing your head--

fox burrow

I want the entire meadow of you.

I want the entire meadow of you.
The moonlight on your petals.
These thorns.
This earth.
The stars in your mouth.
And these hands around your throat.

"Now that my fingernails are ten steel knives, now that my lips are colder, thinner and sharper than their mortal blades, now that with a single glance I can wither a whole plantation, now that with my breath alone I can induce monstrous epidemics, these paths I take could be internal as much as external, just like reflections on velvet."

—Gherasim Luca, The Passive Vampire

"I am filled with a greed and lust for something that’s stretched just perfectly out of my reach. An idea that’s quite aloof, and seems to steadily evade and play me. I have sewn it up in dreams and love, and a thousand things, I can’t quite hold... and ached for it on every rising moon."
--Devi Gottschlich

only lovers left alive

The self I wished to be is the self I am.

The Solar System, “The Universe”,  J. Robinson, 1956.

"I recognized the silences as signs.  We had been through this before.  Though we didn’t speak about it, I slowly prepared myself for the changes that would surely come."

- Patti Smith, Just Kids

"It was life,
often unsatisfying, frequently cruel, usually boring, sometimes beautiful, once in a while exhilarating."
--Stephen King, Insomnia

"This is the end, isn’t it?

And you are here with me again, listening with me: the sea

no longer torments me; the self

I wished to be is the self I am."

- Louise Glück, Meadowlands

"light of all lights"

There are darknesses in life
and there are lights,
and you are one of the lights,
the light of all lights.

--Bram Stoker, Dracula

"Pink Moon in Full Flower, April 21-22, 2016"

Never let the future disturb you.
You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of reason
which today arm you against the present

― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

Full Pink Moon in Scorpio during the evening of April 21 through the early morning of April 22 encourages us to shine a light within our shadows and illuminate our heart's desires.

With this moon, there is a focus on relationships, commitments, contractual agreements with others, as well as our personal responsibilities to ourselves, in order to grow and learn from our hindrances.  This full moon is going to aide us in shining a light on our own energy so that we can fully perceive the path ahead and help us in discerning which direction to go from there.  Think about what it is that you want, and what it is that will make you the happiest.  Keep your greater consciousness in mind!

It takes a lot of courage to face your fears.  Once we learn to conquer what frightens us the most-- being valiant enough to realize our own apprehensions and self-sabotages (especially those we have avoided facing in the past)-- it will plant the seeds for a beautiful blossoming yet to come.

" I am no bird;
and no net ensnares me... "
--Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

'Oftentimes we wonder if the decisions we have made are sound; if we pushed and pulled rightly, or followed the yearnings of our hearts.  It's true that I feel I need you here.  Not just because I'm missing you, but because I'm missing myself.  (The hardest part about missing you, is no longer knowing you.)  On nights when the moon tugs so strongly on my heart; and I am left with a deep longing, and an empty space... I remember that I came here to learn to make it on my own; and if I learn to love myself, I'll never be alone.'

"the serpent and the rainbow"

"Time heals all wounds.  And if it doesn't, you name them something other than wounds and agree to let them stay."
--Emma Forrest

In the beginning, there was the Great Serpent, whose seven thousand coils lay beneath the earth so that it might not fall into the abysmal Sea.  In time, the Serpent began to move, unleashing its undulating flesh which rose slowly into a great spiral that enveloped the Universe in the heavens, it released stars and celestial bodies.  On earth, it brought Creation, winding through molten slopes to create rivers, the veins through which flowed the essence of all life.  Rising again into the sky, it cast lightning bolts that made sacred stones.  It lay along the path of the sun and with its layered skin, the Serpent retained the spring of Eternal Life and from its Zenith it let flow the waters upon which the people would nurse.  As the water fell to the earth, the Rainbow arose and the Serpent took her as his wife, their Love a cosmic helix that stretched the heavens.  (The Serpent and the Rainbow, Haitian Folklore Creation Myth)

I stayed up until I no longer had reason to be awake.  I begged sleep to take me then.
"Bring me someplace that feels like home."
